If you’re a sports enthusiast who also loves music, you’re in luck! The 2018 St.Ignace Rock & Run is happening May 19th. The event features a half marathon, a 5K run/walk, and the talents of some amazing local musicians, high energy DJs, and lively karaoke platforms.
Both the half marathon and the run/walk start and end in downtown St. Ignace at the Starline Railroad dock. Half marathon runners will begin their race at 8am and those participating the more laid-back run/walk start at 9am. The course winds its way through St. Ignace, allowing participants to catch stunning glimpses of Lake Michigan and Mackinac Island.
Musical acts will be playing at the start of the course to get everyone’s energy flowing so that they start off on the right foot. Along the way, runners and walkers will be treated to other musical acts at various points along the course. The event is open to all ages and running levels. Of course, those who don’t want to run or walk the course will still be thoroughly entertained, taking in the entertainment and cheering on the racers.
All half marathon runners get a finishers medal and there will be awards given to the top three finishers in each age category of both races. On top of that, every participant gets a t shirt and swag bag. To make things more festive, participants are encouraged to dress up for the event.
Registration is currently open for each of the races. The cost for the half marathon is $45 and both the 5K run and 5K walk are $25. If you’re interested in participating in the event, keep in mind that registration ends at midnight on May 17th.
The race is sure to be an energy-boosting spring event.
